Annual Report




A very good evening to one and all present here.  Most honourable Shri Sangam Srivastavaji I.R.S Commissioner of  Income Tax, Smt. Smita Srivastavaji I.R.S Commissioner of  Income Tax, VMC Members, PTA members, Smt Rani Dange Principal, K.V. No.3, ONGC, Smt Kamla Nikhurpa, Principal K.V.Kribhco, distinguished guests, Parents, staff members and very dear children.


I’m extremely privileged to extend a warm and cordial welcome to all of you this fine evening to celebrate the Annual function of our Vidyalaya. This year is very special as Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is celebrating the 50th year of its foundation. Kendriya Vidyalayas were set up with the objective of providing best education to the children of defence personnel and transferable government employees and even private sector.  KV No. 1, Ichhanath, Surat adheres to this objective in word and deed through various academic, co-curricular activities and Games and sports.

This day is very important as we take stock of the activities of the whole year. This session has been very purposeful and fruitful. It has witnessed many milestones of excellent achievements.

Our earnest endeavour is not only to pursue academic excellence but also to motivate and empower our students to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers and productive members of an ever changing global society. Our Vidyalaya is second to none as teaching and learning happens in a caring and purposeful environment where each and every member of the school community is valued. The KV No.1 Ichhanath team joins the parents and community to provide the students with an atmosphere for multi faceted development where children are encouraged to channelize their pursuit of excellence. This is possible due to a holistic student-centric environment. 


It is a matter of great pride to present before you the Annual Report of our Vidyalaya focusing on the various activities and programmes organized during the academic session 2011-12.


ACADEMICS:  The academic year was exceptionally good as the Students of classes X and XII have given us excellent results. The overall result of class XII was 95.4%.  Ku. Anuradha Vyas scored highest in the Science stream with 92.20%. Ma. Yash Upadhyaya topped the Commerce stream with 88.6%., Ku. Dwipa Nanavati topped the Arts stream with 75%.

Our Vidyalaya follows the CBSE system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation for students up to class X. I am proud to announce that in class X, 6 students of our Vidyalaya scored 10 on 10 CGPA.

The school result for classes VI-X was 100% and in class XI the overall result was 95.5%.


CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:  Various co-curricular activities are organized in the Vidyalaya for the all round development of children.  These activities are carried out through out the year through various competitions held among four houses.  These competitions include literary, cultural and sports.  The students have been awarded the prizes after the competitions.  Nearly 500 students have won prizes in these competitions at school level.


SPORTS AND GAMES:  Sports and games is an integral part of education and our Vidyalaya has always contributed a lot to the over all development of the students. Our Vidyalaya has certain unique facilities. It is bestowed with a fully functioning  25 meter swimming pool along with an exotic air conditioned Gymnasium comprising latest imported gadgets and aerobic exercisers.

 The Cluster level and Regional Level Chess competition was held in our Vidyalaya in the month of August. This year our participation in Sports has been praiseworthy as 21 girls and boys of the Vidyalaya represented the Region at KVS National level events in Kabbadi, Kho-kho, Chess, Cricket, Athletics, Swimming and Skating. This year our Primary students also went up to the National Level for Skating. It is a matter of great pride to announce that this year our student Ma. Pradeep Patil of XII – Com has been selected for the SGFI Meet for Cricket which is being held at Mumbai.

In the Skating Event organised by SMC, two students won Gold Medals.

The Annual Sports Day was held on 8th Nov 2012.


SCIENCE EXHIBITION: Our Vidyalaya participated in the National Science Congress.  The theme for this year was “Explore and Identify Energy Resources in our Locality”. The project prepared by the team comprising of Ku. Nandini Jha, Aman Singh, Manan, Paneri and Nayani under the guidance of Mrs Sabiha Sheikh was selected for the National level Exhibition.


NATIONAL YEAR OF MATHEMATICS: This year KVS is celebrating the National Year of Mathematics to commemorate the 125 birth Anniversary of the great Indian Mathematician Shri. Srinivas Ramanujam. It was celebrated in a befitting manner by forming a Maths club and organising talks, painting competition, paper reading and preparing a Maths Magazine. The Cluster level Competition was conducted in our Vidyalaya in the month of Oct. The following students were selected for the Regional Level Competition: Ma. Ankit Kumar and Team for Model Making Competition, Ma. Poojan Patel for Quiz and Ku. Rosan Asokan for Essay Writing. The Power Point Presentation prepared by Mrs Pratibha Mishra TGT (Maths) and an Essay written by Mr V.S Chauhan PGT(Maths) was selected for the Regional Level Competition. 


 GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING: A programme on Self- awareness and motivation to achieve goals was conducted by Mrs Sampada Hajela, a certified trainer in Personality Development and financial Management in Industries, for students of 12th Science, Commerce and Humanities streams. A seminar on career in Defence Services and Merchant Navy for students of Class XI and XII was conducted by Ex Warrant Officer Ajay Kumar Dubey. A seminar on Nutrition along with Quiz and Power point presentation was conducted by S.P Sheth College, Vanita Vishram for students of class XI.


SOCIAL SCIENCE EXHIBITION: The Cluster Level Social Science Exhibition cum National Integration Camp was held at K V ONGC Surat in the month of Oct. The state and country chosen for this year was Andaman and Nicobar and New Zealand. 32 students participated in various activities like Skit, debate, Group song, Group dance, Quiz and presented Albums, charts and four innovative Projects. The students who were selected for the Regional level were:  Kum. Srishti Mishra for English Debate, Kum. Chandni Sharma for Quiz and Group Song participants. The Innovative project on Heritage of Surat was also selected.

Further at the Regional level held at KV SAC, Vastrapur, Kum. Chandni Sharma bagged the Second position and was selected for the National Level Competition held at KV No.1 Jaipur. Here too she secured the Third Position, thus bringing pride to Ahmedabad region and our Vidyalaya.

SCOUTS and GUIDES:   In order to inculcate the right value system among students and to help them to become responsible citizens, the Scouts and Guides Movement plays a very important role. This year 158 Scouts, 87 Guides, 30 Cubs and 32 Bulbuls have registered for this movement. Various activities like Investiture Ceremony, Testing Camps, Tree Plantation and Khari Kamai Utsav were organised. 05 Scouts attended the Pre-Rajya and Rajya Puraskar Testing camp at KV AFS Jodhpur.

Tritiya Sopan Testing Camp was attended by 06 Scouts at KV AFS Bhuj and 05 Guides at KV Rajkot.

Registration for Prime Minister’s Shield Competition has also been completed.


INTEGRITY CLUB: We have 48 students in this club who work under the able guidance of Mr M.J Kathiriya and Mrs Geeta Vasava and Mrs Renu Rawat. This club helps in imbibing the value of patriotism in Integrity Club Members.  Apart from this, sensitization of children on human values which will indirectly benefit in improving ethical work culture is also imparted.



OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS: Our brightest star student, Ma. Poojan Patel of class XII Sci was among the five students from Ahmedabad who got selected for the JapanEast Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS). He went to Japan for 10 days in the month of November.  Not only in school, but our students have performed exceptionally well in the various competitive exams conducted by various external agencies. 6 Students participated at the city level Limca Quiz held at Ryan CBSE School. Other exams conducted in the Vidyalaya were the Kishore Vigyan Puraskar, IAPT, National Science Olympiad and Technothlon. Our students also participated in various Inter school competitions and brought laurels to the Vidyalaya. The latest participation was at ESSAR International School in the “Confluence” competition where our students participated in the English Debate and got selected for the final round. They also participated in Maths Quiz and Power point Presentation Competition and were awarded participation certificates. Like the previous years this year too four of our students Ku. Chandni Sharma, Ku Srishti Dutt, Ku Prarthana, Ma Konic Doshi participated in the interschool elocution competition organised by The Young Orators Club. Ku Chandni Sharma won the third prize. She & Ma Konic Doshi have been selected for the final round to be held in January.  

  Our Primary and Secondary Students also participated in the All India Level Painting Competition and won cash prizes.179 students participated in National Mathematics Olympiad and 07 students were selected for State Level competition.

This Vidyalaya is also fixed as centre for prestigious examinations like IIT GATE, IIT JEE, AIEEE and CTET.



Our teachers too showed excellence in their fields. Mrs. Sabiha Shaikh PGT (Chemistry), a very dedicated teacher, has been awarded the KVS Regional Incentive award at a function held at KV Chandkheda, Ahmedabad on 15 December.

Mrs. Sabiha Shaikh and Mrs Daksha Gupta have also been chosen for the Best Science Teacher award for their contributions in teaching science. This award has been constituted by the Dept of Science, Govt of India in collaboration with KVS  

 Mrs. Sabiha Shaikh attended the National Level Data Users Seminar - GIS Training at the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore.

Mrs. Janet Asokan and Mrs.Uma Shukla attended a Two day workshop for CCE mentors at ZIET,Mumbai.

Mr. Santosh Wattamwar attended the Data base Design and Programming with Structured Query Language at ZIET, Mysore.

Mrs Janet Asokan and Mrs Pratibha Mishra also worked as Moderators for CCE system of evaluatiuon for class IX and X.

Mrs. Rekha Joshi, Mrs Sabiha Shaikh, Mrs. Shikha Sharma, Mr. D.N Trivedi, Mr. Ramesh Kumar, Mrs. Daksha Gupta, Mrs. Sita Dhinakaran, Mrs. Deepmala Patel attended the In service course for teachers. Er. Naresh Choudhary attended the Induction Course for WE teachers.


EDUCATIONAL TRIPS: To ensure that the students get some respite from their routine school activities educational trips are planned for all the levels right from primary to higher secondary level. The trips include visit to parks, dams, ancient temples etc.


 ADVENTURE ACTIVITY: Our Vidyalaya got the opportunity to participate in the adventure camp held at Pachmarhi from 1 June to 7 June. It was organised by the National Adventure Institute of Bharat Scouts and Guides and 17 students along with 2 escort teachers Shri M.J Kathiriya and Smt. Madhumita Deb got training for trekking, Rifle shooting, mountaineering, physical exercise etc. More activities have been planned in the coming days to Junagadh and Mount Abu


ECO CLUB: This club has been very active since 2001and has conducted tree plantation, visit to farms, trekking, puppet show, slogan writing and painting competitions to create awareness among the students about nature. 48 students appeared for the Green Olympiad Quiz at National level. The Vidyalaya has also undertaken the project of “Each one Plant One”.


YOGA: Under this ancient science various activities have been conducted for the physical, mental, and spiritual development of students. Meditation session was also conducted for teachers by the Samarpan Dhyan Kendra.  



NAEP: The National Adolescence Education programme has been implemented. Talks by eminent doctors were also organized. Dr. Sanjay  Shah gave a power point presentation on ‘Say No to Tobacco” Dr. Sonia Chandnani gave a very informative Power point Presentation on the problems of Adolescence and also arranged free medical check-up of children.



This Vidyalaya was inspected by our worthy Assistant Commissioner, Shri P. Madan and a team of Principals on 27 Nov, 2012. Today I wish to congratulate the students and staff as they have helped the school to win a high commendation as stated in the oral feedback of our Inspection Team.  

Students were commended for being generally well-behaved, attentive in class, showing respect and actively participating in teaching learning activities. Teachers were commended for adopting a positive attitude towards teaching, having a good knowledge of the subject they teach and giving positive feedback to students.  

COMMON MINIMUM PROGRAMME: This has been introduced by KVS for qualitative improvement of primary education and our teachers are striving hard to implement various programs and activities throughout the year. Some of the highlights are:

-          School readiness programme for std-1

-         Organizing community lunch; celebration of festivals, celebration of Children’s day and Foundation Day. Publication of CMP Newsletter is under process.

-         Surat Cluster level sports meet was held at KV Ankleshwar. 36 Students participated in Kho-kho, Kabbadi, Skipping Race and Running Race. Ma. Ayush Patel won Bronze medal for 50 mts Running Race. Ku Dipika and Ma. Rajneesh won Gold medal for 100 mts Running Race and Ma. Dev won the Silver medal for 100 mt Running. Again it is a proud moment for me to announce that K.V No.1 Ichhannath, Surat won the Overall Sports Championship.

-         22 students of our Vidyalaya also participated at the Surat Cluster level CCA Competition held at KV KRIBHCO in Group Song, Group Dance and Fancy Dress. Our students won the Third position in Group Song.

-         One day picnic has been arranged to Chowki Dani


ALUMNI ASSOCIATION --- The all-rounded system of education has helped K.V No.1 Surat to produce an ever- increasing list of alumni who have made a name for themselves in diverse fields. The Alumni Association organises get to-gethers, thus keeping alive memories of their days spent in this Vidyalaya.


INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT: Our Vidyalaya has made noticeable improvement in the past few years. All efforts are made for the face lifting of the Vidyalaya. Computer labs are all functioning with broad band connections, LCD projectors and a fully air conditioned computer room. An Interactive board is also available in the Audio- Visual room. This year the Vidyalaya has also fitted CCTV cameras. We have also installed Public Announcement System within the Vidyalaya. 

All the rooms have been white washed and oil painted.

Fully equipped Resource centre for primary section has been developed with TV, DVD, Digital camera, tape recorder, LCD and computer with broad band connection.

It will not be out of place to mention the diligent efforts put in by my dedicated team of teachers and non-teaching staff. Vidyalaya result and all-round development is only because of sincere efforts of our teachers. When alert and cooperative parents and dedicated team of teachers join hands together there is no question of child’s failure in any field. My special thanks goes to all those who have been associated with our Vidyalaya for its progress in one way or the other. Now, I also wish to thank you all for your hard work and loyal support to the school. I also believe all of us will not be satisfied with the present good performances, we will continue to work hard in studies, games and other areas so that we can make K.V.No1 Ichhanath, Surat shine brighter in the days to come.  

I hope with the blessings of our honourable chairman, Deputy Commissioner of KVS,VMC members, goodwill of our revered parents and society, we will bring laurels to our school and to KVS. Let me conclude with these few lines:


We cannot know what will occur,
Just make our journey worth the taking,
